ARD Plastic and rubber coating (also called trim coating or restoration coating) is used to restore faded plastics/rubber, deepen color, and protect against UV, oxidation, and dirt.
Step 1: Deep Cleaning (Most Important)
Before coating, the surface must be 100% clean.
- Wash the area with car shampoo
- Use an APC (all-purpose cleaner) or dedicated plastic cleaner
- For best results, wipe with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to remove oils
👉 If the surface is dirty or has dressing residue, the coating will fail early.
Step 2: Dry Completely
- Make sure the surface is fully dry
- No moisture should remain in pores or texture
Step 3: Apply the Coating
- Use a foam applicator or microfiber applicator
- Apply a small amount (a few drops goes a long way)
- Spread evenly over the plastic or rubber
👉 Work in small sections to ensure even coverage.
Step 4: Level / Wipe Excess
- After 1–5 minutes (depends on product), lightly wipe excess with a clean microfiber towel
- This prevents streaking or high spots
Step 5: Curing Time
- Avoid water for 12–24 hours
- Full curing can take up to 24–48 hours
